Angelina Jolie expresses disparities in global human rights
Angelina Jolie shares her dissatisfaction with global disparities in human rights principles in an interview with Syrian filmmaker and journalist Waad Al-Kateab.
She recalls her first conviction in the concept of ‘good guys,’ which she linked with human rights activists and international organizations such as the United Nations.
She observed that, despite popular belief that “colonialism has ended,” domination and mistreatment of underdeveloped countries continue.
“In the race for resources, emerging nations’ attitudes, control, and exploitation may be worse than ever… Even at the United Nations, which has the final veto power, economic interests are set. “It’s always been like this,” she continued.
🗣️ ‘Most disheartening thing’
Angelina Jolie criticizes global injustice, denouncing the unequal distribution of rights among different groups:
—❝40% of those killed are innocent children. Whole families are being murdered.❞

Jolie has slammed Israel’s continuous shelling of Gaza and called for an end to the brutal treatment of the Palestinian people.
She captioned a photo of the destruction in Gaza, “This is the deliberate bombing of a trapped population with nowhere to flee.” For over two decades, Gaza has been an open-air jail and is rapidly becoming a mass cemetery.”
Speaking about Pakistan, in a post last month, she said, “Pakistan has been a supporter for many Afghan refugee families for decades. I am saddened they would so abruptly push back refugees who face the impossible realities of trying to survive in today’s Afghanistan, where women have again been deprived of all rights and the possibility of education, many are being imprisoned, and there is a deep humanitarian crisis.”
