Despite the petrol price drop, construction prices surged in Pakistan

Pakistan has been undergoing price surges in every sector. The tax is steadily increasing over the most basic amenities, making lives more complicated for the poor.

Amidst the surge, there was a recent decrease in petrol prices in Pakistan. Even after this decrease the prices of the construction sector have been steadily increasing.

According to a news source published on October 28, the recent developments have caused a surge in construction prices nationwide.

The news report shared all the new costs of the materials—one bag of cement costs about PKR1200. The price of gravel has also increased to PKR 125 per sq.ft.

A sand trolley costs about PKR 18000 per trolley. There has been a significant increase in sand prices since before. Steel prices have also reached PKR 270 per kilogram.

This surge in prices is a cause of concern for the infrastructure department. The price of a thousand bricks is now PKR 15000.

Most of the construction projects have been suffering from these new developments with the majority of them being placed on hold for the unforeseeable future. It has also led to an increase in the workers’ wages because of the hold.
