Housing Projects

Plot owners in Islamabad are getting affected by unexpected delays in Housing Projects

The housing projects by the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) & Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) have caused many government employees in Islamabad to experience frustrating delays in getting their residential plots.

The steering committee that was established to address such delays is now experiencing difficulties with the Green Enclave-I and Green Enclave-II projects.

Green Enclave-I project which was started in 2009 in Bhara Kahu &  offered 3,282 plots on a “first come first” service basis has left employees and journalists in a very difficult situation. Sadly, some retirees passed away without fulfilling their dream of owning their plots.

Similarly, Green Enclave-II, which is now called the “Sky Garden Housing Scheme” is also having delays. It’s making around 29,427 government employees quite frustrated, who registered and are waiting to get their plots.

The housing apartments project by the Pakistan Housing Authority in I-12/1 is moving very slowly. They are working on 3,200 units but the progress is gradual. The delays in the Capital Development Authority housing project have taken over three decades for many allottees to possess.

People like Khumar Gul in Sector I-12 have also faced many difficulties while waiting for their dream homes; some people even left this world without seeing it happen.

Tahir Mehmood from the same sector compared the government with private projects where plots are allotted much quicker.

He denies any payment issues with contractors and says that the work is progressing after resolving some company & contractor issues.

Another FGEHA official who preferred not to be named mentioned that Director General Zafar Iqbal is addressing this difficult situation actively through meetings.

Development work in Green Enclave-II is progressing & there is a possibility of giving 814 identified plots in Phase I but the final decision is still pending.
