Ring road construction in Rawalpindi begins
Recently, JV won the contract to build the ring road in the city of Rawalpindi. It won the contract by offering the lowest bid, financially.
The bid amounted to a total of PKR 25 million. This financial decision was made in the presence of Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa. Chief engineer Habib ul Haq Randhawa was also included in the decision.
The JV is tasked to confirm the best route for the project. It is estimated to be completed in about six months. The project covers 38.3 kilometers. The land from Chak Beli Khan to Adiala, a total of 12 kilometers is secured. The rest of the 26.3 kilometers is still pending.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has requested the board to release the funds required for its construction.
According to a news article published in the papers on September 23, 2023, the Frontier Works Organization has started the work on the construction of the ring road. The caretaker of the project, Division Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha has announced a six-month completion period.
This project is supposed to include five interchanges. There is also an industrial zone included to enhance the protection from traffic congestion.
