All voices matter
Crypto war has existed since the beginning. It is not only bound to Pakistan but almost every state of the world is in this war now and then. But as a citizen of Pakistan, we must have an idea about what our state is going through and why our state should know about the crypto war.
For a better understanding of a topic, it is of crucial importance to know what it aims for. Crypto war is, basically, the disagreement between the government and the technologists on having encryption. Where encryption is the privacy of personnel.
The government, especially states having authoritarianism, wants to get rid of encryption in order to practice transparency. Such as, if we talk about Pakistan, its government takes encryption as a threat to the national security of Pakistan.
According to the government of Pakistan, getting rid of encryption would lead to the safe use of technology and they would be able to keep an eye on behaviors that might be a threat to its security.
Technologists, on the other hand, believe that encryption can give them privacy and can help them fight cyber-attacks. Currently, the entrepreneur and technologist population of Pakistan is increasing day by day. In this hour, going against the will of the majority of citizens of Pakistan would do no good to Pakistan.
All in all, the crypto war has started in Pakistan as well, and as a citizen of passing it is crucial for us to know what crypto war status is in our state so that we can talk for our rights where needed.
In my view, it is important to have encryption because there are a lot of tasks that we perform online like financial transactions and sharing other personal information, hence, it is crucial to raise our voice for ourselves when we are supposed to because for that reason we have a democratic state.
