All voices matter
It is the age of the media. Anything that has been captured in the eye of the media goes viral within seconds. Anything once uploaded on the Web stays there forever.
Such is the case with funny mistakes. Any blunder that the netizens deem funny enough becomes viral and is converted into a meme.
The same happened with Sonya Hussyn this week, where her gaffe about Malala’s achievements went viral. In this time when factual accuracy matters the most, such blunders make a wave on the Internet.
Sonya called the Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai a scientist.
Sonya Hussyn recently appeared in Shoaib Akhtar’s talk show. He asked her a round of rapid-fire questions. Options were available to her for the answers. She was asked about the Pakistani scientist who recently won a Nobel prize and she selected Malala confidently.
Shoaib Akhtar compared her to Nida Yasir. This was a dig at Sonya because Nida Yasir is known for spreading misinformation.
This error caused a backlash from the netizens of the Internet. Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai is known for her advocacy of women’s education around the globe. Her story of resilience has inspired many around the globe.
