A Pakistan drama serial “Mere Ban Jao” highlights a very serious issue of revenge porn. The character of Azmia is played by Kinda Hashmi in which Azmia’s toxic relationship with Fardeen takes a dark turn when he forces her to get intimate on a video call. He later posts those videos online as an act of revenge.

KinzaHashmi, who portrays Azmia, hesitated at first in filming such scenes but later she emphasized the importance of highlighting the real problem of revenge porn.

She believes that dramas reflect societal challenges, encouraging scripts that address such issues.

Revenge porn is getting very common in the digital age with social media & mobile phones, making it easy to share private content. Women aged 16 to 26 often become victims.

An investigative report showed a subreddit trading nonconsensual pictures of South Asian women, highlighting how severe this problem has become.

The impact on victims of revenge porn causes depression, anxiety, and even job loss. Once the picture/videos are uploaded online, it becomes challenging to take down that content which cause even more distress.

Despite legal measures, victims continue to bear all the blame. “Mere Ban Jao” shows the struggle that a victim faces, dealing with public humiliation, threats to personal safety, and mental health challenges making it difficult to face society.

Kinza Hashmi emphasizes the importance of online protection and says that the blame lies on those people who share personal content without consent. The drama’s central theme revolves around Azmia’s naivety, her standing for and a message of holding perpetrators accountable by all means.
