Hadiqa Kiani’s new drama ‘Hadsa’ sparks outrage for the graphic portrayal of motorway incident
The new drama ‘Hadsa’ is believed to be based on the Sialkot-Lahore motorway incident that took place in 2020. The incident shook the country to its very core and was followed heavily by the media.
The recent drama depicts the scenes of that horrible incident in graphic detail sparking public outrage. Moreover, the star-studded drama did not ask the survivor of the 2020 incident for her consent.
A journalist, Fareeha Idrees, shared the concerns of the survivor regarding this drama. The most traumatic incident of her life is being dramatized on the screen, making her relive the dreadful moments. This has sparked controversy.

Many people have taken to social media to express their disgust at the treatment of the survivor. People are flooding the platform ‘X’ discussing the ethics of using someone’s personal experience without their explicit consent.
Amidst all this outrage, Hadiqa Kiani denies that the drama is based on the motorway incident. She says that she clarified beforehand whether the drama portrays the incident and was assured that it doesn’t.
She added that the episodes should air with specific trigger warnings, as a caution for those exposed to such trauma.
Social media is rightfully concerned with the responsibility of the creators, which comes with their storytelling, in light of the recent debacle.
