Lahore’s first-ever Plastic road open to the public

Environmental concerns have been at the forefront of the world in the past decade. The aftershocks of environmental deterioration have taken the world by storm in the past couple of years, with wildfires, floods, and storms on a destructive scale.

Every country has been raising awareness to tackle the practices that perpetuate global warming. To contribute to these practices, the engineers of Pakistan have been designing eco-friendly roads for the past years, with the one in Islamabad being a resounding success.

After the capital, the heart of Pakistan, Lahore has gotten its plastic road, and it is open to the public. The Punjab government spent a total of PKR 20 Million on its construction.

The road encompasses the land from Gymkhana Mall Road to Jail Road. Having a length of 900 meters, the road provides many benefits. One of its long-term benefits is its resistance to deterioration by rainwater.

This resistance makes the road more sustainable for the future. The inauguration of the road happened in the presence of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi. The road not only boasts the benefits of sustainability but is also cost-effective and economical on the budget.
