Narges Mohammadi

Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian jailed activist, wins a Nobel Peace Prize

Narges Mohammadi has always supported women’s rights in the East. Her unwavering fight against the oppression of women has landed her a ten-year sentence in Iran’s notoriously harsh prison in Tehran.

The chairwoman of the Norwegian Nob committee, Berit Reiss-Anderson has acknowledged Narges’s immense personal cost for the fight for women’s freedom in Iran.

Narges has been commended around the world for her steadfastness in championing the cause even at the cost of harsh repercussions and retributions.

The prison in Tehran where Narges is serving her sentence is not for the weak. Considered globally as one of the harshest prisons in the world, it has led to the breakdown of many prisoners.

But Narges has remained steadfast in her resolution and is still advocating for women’s freedom.

Iran’s foreign ministry called this award an ‘anti-Iran’ agenda. The government calls it biased against the local government. Even after the protests from the Iranian government, the award was widely praised by the international community.

US President, Joe Biden has praised Narges’s unshakable courage. He called her a freedom fighter and asked the Iranian government to release the champion of human rights.

In the Speech in Oslo, the Chairwoman recognized all her efforts and announced the award.
