Pakistan’s brain drain
What comes first to your mind when you listen to the word brain drain? Well, let’s clear the concept of this term first. The brain drain refers to the condition in which the brilliant minds of a state move abroad to get a better lifestyle and opportunities.
Due to this, not only country suffer in terms of its economy but also skilled professionals to run it in the right direction unfortunately, in the case of Pakistan they are investing themselves abroad.
Brain drain in Pakistan
Pakistan’s brain drain is a concept that has been known for the past few decades. A study made in 2023, shows that this year till August more than 540,000 population of Pakistan migrated to the developed countries of the world. Pakistan’s brain drain has always been there yet it is increasing time and again.
Reason of Pakistan’s brain drain
Pakistan is suffering from economic instability, political unrest, and corruption which are the root causes of fewer opportunities, poor salary packages, and low standard of living.
Therefore, when people with brilliant minds and skills feel that they aren’t getting what they deserve, they move to countries like the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia. Dubai etc.
Challenges, Pakistan is facing because of the brain drain
The consequences are huge for a state like Pakistan as the economy is already shaking because its workforce, who can run it properly are moving to other states.
This makes it even harder for a state because when all the talented brains are no more contributing to their state there aren’t enough candidates to fulfill the lack of skilled and talented minds.
Conclusion
To summarize, population, whether skilled or unskilled, is critical for a state because it may create a strong nation, and a strong nation contributes to a stronger state.
Hence, the Pakistani government must work towards a cause that will provide more chances for people of all ages, allowing its workforce to remain in the country and allowing it to become a stronger state.
