RDA Takes the Helm: Revolutionizing Housing Society Management in Rawalpindi
In a significant development, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Council, leading to a transfer of responsibilities.
The RDA will now oversee the management of private housing societies and the approval of building projects in the region. A specialized committee has been formed to finalize the operational details of this transition.
Committee Formation
The committee responsible for establishing the framework consists of five members.
These include;
- the Director of Planning from RDA,
- the Municipal Officer of Planning from Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation,
- the District Officer in charge of regulations from the District Council,
- the District Officer of Planning from the District Council, and
- the Deputy Director of Planning from RDA.
Effective Date and Authority
According to Dawn news, the RDA will officially assume control of private housing societies within the local government areas starting from June 25.
This transfer of powers will occur when the District Council administrator delegates the necessary authority to the development authority.
It is worth noting that until the MoU is finalized, the RDA lacks the legal mandate to oversee the operations of private housing societies or take legal action against any illicit schemes, constructions, or societies.
