Los Angeles is buzzing with excitement. The reason is that Time Magazine announced 2023 as the Year of Taylor Swift.
With her constant flow of music, successful tours & a name that makes headlines, it’s not a surprise that she has been named Person of the Year. Time Magazine describes her as an individual who writes her own story and also plays the hero in it.
After 20 years in the industry, the 33-year-old Taylor Swift keeps rising higher & higher. She is breaking records in the music industry. Taylor Swift’s popular Eras tour is expected to make about $2 billion. It would be the first tour to hit the symbolic $1 billion mark.
Taylor Swift can make a big impact with even small moves because she has millions of dedicated followers who love her & are inspired by her.
Time editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs said that Taylor Swift went beyond borders and became a symbol of positivity.
In 2023, she did extraordinary things. She shared her journey with the world. She also showed support for the dreams & feelings of people, especially women, who felt ignored & unappreciated.
Taylor Swift’s big empire is valued at over $1 billion. Her tour documentary film alone earned $92.8 million on its opening, one of her biggest achievements.
The movie’s advance tickets sold for over $100 million all over the globe. Taylor Swift’s romance with NFL player Travis Kelce is also creating headlines. It attracted a new batch of fans who followed the couple’s every move on social media.
Taylor Swift first gained a big audience with her country songs. Afterward, she shifted to full pop with her fifth album called 1989.
It reached what she calls “an imperial phase.” Unfortunately, the following years became tough for her as she felt the strain of constant attention.
The media around her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian added more pressure on her.
In an interview, Taylor Swift explained to imagine a setup with a secretly recorded call, edited by Kim Kardashian to make me look like a liar. She shared that it hit her hard mentally that she even moved to a different country.
She stayed inside for years, she was scared of phone calls & also distanced herself from most people due to trust issues. She went through a really hard phase of her life.
During this tough time, Taylor Swift found relief in finalizing her record deal with Scott Borchetta at Big Machine Records in Nashville.
She wanted more control and moved on to a major deal with Universal. Her connection with Big Machine bothered her. It resulted in a heated argument over her catalog’s sale to a private equity firm.
Swift made her old tracks new again with new unreleased songs. Like the 10-minute version of All Too Well which not only broke records & made her fans happy, but also gained new Swift fans.
She has also released four new albums since 2019 which include Midnight from last year. This may win her a fourth Album of the Year Grammy.
If this happens, she will beat stars like Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, & Stevie Wonder for the most wins. Taylor Swift feels proud & happy now.
She says that this is the best she felt creatively, ever. After all, there is only one question that remains, “Are you not entertained?”
