The new approach to Karachi’s Mass transit project

Sindh’s Chief Minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar has recently been communicating with the project departments for mass transit in Karachi.

According to a news article published on October 6, he has asked for the paperwork for the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project to be sped up by the provincial transport and mass transit department.

A high-level meeting was held in the CM house recently. According to the reports, the Sindh Chief Minister emphasized the completion of the paperwork for the Karachi Circular Railway. He emphasized an integrated approach to target the city’s mass transit problems.

The session was attended by Planning and Development Board Chairman Shakil Mangnejo and Transport Secretary Asad Zamin among other important people.

The Orange Line BRT project was highlighted by the Transport Department.

This project is being considered as a solution to a percentage of the city’s transport and traffic problems. It is a mass network of 20 buses operating over a 3.8-kilometre stretch. It has a capacity for transportation of 3000 passengers a day.

The Chief Minister has suggested integrating the Orange Line with the already existing Green Line.

Furthermore, The funding for the Karachi Circular Railway will be provided by CPEC. The operations will be overlooked by Karachi Urban Transport Company.
